Who We Are

The Arkansas Thoroughbred Retirement and Rehabilitation Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering horsemen a safe avenue for retiring their Thoroughbreds that have raced or trained at Oaklawn after their racing careers are over. We provide any necessary rehabilitation the horse might need and then evaluate it for a future career as a riding horse before finding a suitable adoptive home. In some circumstances, we will start the retraining process.

All adoption applications are vetted and references checked before any horses are adopted out. Any adoption fee collected for the adoption goes right back into the program to help care for the other horses under our care.

We look forward to working with people looking for an OTTB (Off The Track Thoroughbred) to ride and retrain for an array of disciplines including eventing, dressage, barrel racing and trail riding.

How To Retire a Horse

The Arkansas Thoroughbred Retirement & Rehabilitation Foundation is here to assist all horsemen looking to retire any horse that has raced or trained at Oaklawn Park. Please fill out the In-take form found here or see Jeanette Milligan in the H.B.P.A. for the form. Once the horse enters the program we will provide any necessary care it needs before finding it a new adoptive home.

Give a Horse a New Home

Our horses have been through a lot and we believe they deserve the best. We are dedicated to giving all of our horses the care they need until they find their forever home. Help us give these horses a second chance and fill out an adoption application!
